A short event video is a great way to promote a special event. For example, take a look at this video we recently put together for the American Society for Association Executives (ASAE) Foundation to promote their 2013 Springtime Golf & Tennis Invitational at the Lansdowne Resort in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Event videos evoke and invoke action

Video is a great way to capture fun, excitement, movement, and action, and your organizational stakeholders are often at their most active at events—whether they are golf or tennis tournaments, charity walks, or simply great parties.  Fundraising events lend themselves to engaging video because of the inherent action. This particular event video builds further upon the action through a quick pace and special effects that emphasize  the movement of golf clubs, carts, balls, and racquets. The edgy background music, too, emphasizes the exciting nature of the event with the upbeat tempo. The transitions between the scenes are fast, frequent and varied, giving the impression that there is a ton of interesting material to go through.  This style suits the goal of defining this event as one that one “must attend.”

Event videos are a great time to show lots of people

We  designed the event video to include as many people as possible. What better way to say “our fundraising event is fun,” than to show many people in a video having fun at the event? Many of the picture-in-picture juxtapositions show more people participating in a short amount of time (and in a visually pleasing and professional manner). Exposing viewers to as many people as possible enjoying themselves at the 2012 event—including some they know—makes it more likely that they will want to participate in the event in May 2013.

Event videos are a smart place to feature sponsors

This event would not be successful, of course, without the support of its sponsors. The Foundation enhances the possibility of these sponsors “re-upping” for the 2013 event by featuring their staff, branding, and logos within this very fun event video—a concrete record of the fun they had while also supporting a good cause.

Event videos should include your branding, too

The ASAE Foundation brand and logo show up throughout the entire video on shirts, posters, tables, flags and more; and not one of them was by accident. In a way, the whole point here is that even in such a short video, nothing at all was by accident. It was all prepared beforehand as part of the plan for a sophisticated and targeted event video.
