MiniMatters in Action: Teal Toes
MiniMatters created a 30-second web video for Teal Toes, a rising ovarian cancer awareness organization, to encourage people to paint their toes teal and spark conversations about ovarian cancer.
MiniMatters' concept of teal toes rising up out of the sand to join a community echoed the personal experiences of Teal Toes' founder and many other women who have experienced the disease. The soundtrack's a cappella female voice communicated uplifting feelings of evolution as well as continuity.
Distributed via Facebook to thousands of ovarian cancer sufferers and their supportive family members, the video ended with a call for action to "grab a friend and paint your toes teal" and visit the Teal Toes website for more information.
Each year in the U.S. alone, more than 15,000 women die of this awful disease. Getting one's head out of the sand to recognize the symptoms and share information widely saves lives.
