This Master Naturalist Video is a merging of the best of both worlds: on-the-ground video shot by diverse master naturalist volunteers in many locations throughout the state of Virginia, and the professional project planning, scripting, editing, and animated graphics MiniMatters is able to provide.
Video Crowd-Sourcing
Video crowd-sourcing was the perfect production method for being able to communicate the diversity of master naturalist volunteers; the many different types of volunteer service and projects; and Virginia’s varied regions, flora and fauna. All of these elements are essential to the program but would otherwise be hard and costly to obtain with a single video crew.
In total, volunteers from 20 different Virginia Master Naturalist chapters provided material to create this video–showcasing their favorite activities and natural sites, contributing nature photography and videography skills, and providing professional-quality voiceovers.
MiniMatters worked closely with the Master Naturalist program to develop guidelines for filming interviews and securing particular types of clips. By doing this, as well as organizing the many submissions to reflect connections to the scope, strengths, and diversity of the program, we were able to leverage the crowdsourced video in a purposeful way fully branded to the organization.
Environmental Videos
MiniMatters is thrilled when we can produce videos that contribute to the conservation of our planet, such as this filmed video for training people to take water samples and this animated video that provides tips for managing a septic system and avoiding failure, which can seriously harm the environment.
